We are especially proud to present you Tails 4.0, the first version of Tails based on Debian 10 (Buster). It brings new versions of most of the software included in Tails and some important usability and performance improvements. Tails 4.0 introduces more changes than any other version since years.
The list of changes is indeed quite long, and note that it contains quite a number of security fixes too, so you should update as quickly as possible.
I didn’t know what Tails was, and it’s blocked here at work. Would have been nice to have just a smidge of info about what it was vs copying the first paragraph of their front page. That entire paragraph from them was 100% marketing that had 0% content. “We had a release. It has updates and bugfixes. It’ new”.
Here is what is missing. Very cool!!
Tails is a live operating system that you can start on almost any computer from a USB stick or a DVD. It aims at preserving your privacy and anonymity, and helps you to:
– use the Internet anonymously and circumvent censorship;
– all connections to the Internet are forced to go through the Tor network;
– leave no trace on the computer you are using unless you ask it explicitly;
– use state-of-the-art cryptographic tools to encrypt your files, emails and instant messaging.
This is nifty!
True, but it was also used By Edward SNowden in sending Goverment classified data to news outlets regarding the NSA. That’s what bought it to fame. It has been alive for years before that. As to work, Most jobs would block access to Tor or Tails since they WANT to track what you’re doing on their equipment. Is it their right? YES, is it your right to privacy? YES.
Dont worry Kancept, I posted LESS than Thom or the Editors of OSAlert. I sent them one sentence regarding it as I was at work and checed teh Tor website on my smartphone connected to teh public WIfi on the NYC subway system… So as to typing an article on a buggy On screen keyboard while having a stroke affected hand vs one quip to the Editors who have a better command of the English language, I opt for The Editors. They did an awesome job posting it and I thank them.
Well, the article did pique my interest and I went and found out about it. Was pretty neat!
