Microsoft has apologised for serving malware via its websites and Windows Live Messenger software. APC reader Jackie Murphy reported the problem: “With Microsoft launching Vista along with their Defender software to protect users from viruses and spyware, it seems therefore to be an oxymoron that they have started to putting paid changing banner advertisements for malware, on the popular MSN groups servers.” A Microsoft Australia spokesperson confirmed the malware vendor had slipped through its ad booking processes.
I thought it was another Vista article!
;}
Just kidding!!
Windows ME == Windows Malware Edition?
Or is that overly facetious?
<blink>YOUR COMPUTER NEEDS OPTIMIZATION, UPGRADE TO VISTA NOW</blink>
OMG that was good! =P
too many connections apparently.
‘Unable to connect to database server
This either means that the username and password information in your settings.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the MySQL database server. This could mean your hosting provider’s database server is down.
The MySQL error was: Too many connections.
Currently, the username is drupal and the database server is localhost.
* Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
* Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
* Are you sure that the database server is running?

I noticed that someone went through and voted down all the jokes in this thread. C’mon, lighten up, they’re just jokes. It was obvious no one was saying anything bad about Vista. If anything, the point was that there had been a lot of Vista coverage lately. Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the partition today!
Hmm…. Microsoft has just admitted to “serving malware”. This looks like an admission of liability, so if someone were of a litigious nature, this could be fertile ground for legal action against MS…..
Any takers?
So they finally apologized for Windows? largest malware sale in the world. Now, how about stopping the distribution of malware, and taking windows off the shelves?
…wait…
Microsoft was serving up actual malware!!!
Eh… so what else is new? I mean seriously? As others have already pointed out this is nothing new, and you can see Vista-esque releases from Microsoft in the likes of Windows ME…
Microsoft should really go back to doing what they seem to actually enjoy doing and seem to do well–writing programming languages, not Applications or Operating Systems.

Coming soon to a desktop window near you.
Desktop window with a Vista…
I know you were being facetious but if you read the MS Vista EULA, it disclaims Microsoft from being liable for any damage caused by Windows Vista. It also denies that Windows Vista is useful for any purpose. If you install Windows Vista on your computer, then it is assumed that you accepted the terms of the EULA and they would point you to these terms and say that you’re bound to them. Of course, this assumes that the EULA is enforceable and will be upheld in a court of law.
It also denies that Windows Vista is useful for any purpose.
Proves they’re not completely dishonest.
After noticing spyware on freshly installed XP machines, I tracked it down to the IE msn.com default home page — just a couple of clicks on some of the links and you’d get “26 new objects detected” in ad aware.
That’s what malware vendors do… try to trick people into thinking their products seen as legitimate software. Even a giant like Microsoft can get tricked.
