“A few weeks ago, MEPIS released SimplyMEPIS 6.5. The latest version of the Ubuntu-based desktop distribution offers a number of interesting new features, including a 64-bit release and Beryl for 3-D desktop effects. After spending a fair amount of time with the release, I found it to be a worthy update to earlier versions of MEPIS.”

while i am waiting for pc linux 2007 to be a final product, i have found mepis 6.5 to be usable. it doesn’t seem to be too clumsy, synaptic has excellent download speed, and it automatically configured my dlink wireless router…that is the one grrrr !!! moment i had with pc linux 2007 tr3.
i gave it a go and I must say I am very impressed with it. Being a fan of the LTS and stable releases in general. I suggest anyone who favors a KDE-centric distro built on the shoulders of once Debian, now the already well established Ubuntu (LTS i believe?) …CHECK IT OUT!
