I don’t really know which part to quote here, but I urge you to read Trevor Dickinson’s latest blog entry. Trevor is one of the driving forces behind the AmigaONE X1000, and a major Amiga enthusiast with an extensive collection of machines and loads of experience. His post covers all sorts of various stuff from the Amiga world, and definitely worth a read. He’s also the person behind the delicious sock cake. Also, the OSAlert title here is terrible. Sorry.
Nice article but not much mention of classic Amiga stuff.
There is a lot of hardware projects up and coming and out there now for the classic Amiga’s. If only we had these projects/options back in the 90’s but at least we have them now!
What projects are out for classic Amiga’s? The only things I can find are bits of old hardware that is way overpriced.
I am nursing an A1200 that I regularly game and program on…
Sorry I am not saying you are wrong, I just can’t find any, maybe I don’t know where to look

Well, there are a couple of projects going on which aim to replace the very old classic hardware with FPGAs and such, since the old hardware is slowly dying off. Then you’ve got some new accelerators, special little graphics cards and so on which give the A1200s a bit of a boost in their old age. Check out Individual Computers (Jens Schoenfeld) – he’s a legend when it comes to creating new hardware for ancient systems!
No problem. Take a look at this thread http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=65087
for information about a new A500 add on, and this one
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=65047
for information about the upcoming Zeus68k ^aEUR“ Accelerator/IDE/RAM for the A500/2000/CDTV and others.
There is also new A1200 accelerators coming out too soon and a lot of new projects been worked on. Keep an eye out on the EAB forums and Amiga.org forums for new information, there is quite a lot on there. Also http://www.vesalia.de and http://www.amigakit.com are the main retailers for a lot of these hardware projects
Cheers
I bought an Amiga 1200, I think last year, that has a CF card in it. It boots from it (very FAST) and has a ton of games on it.
Very good article by Trevor Dickinson. A lot of information there. Thanks for posting this, Thom.
That “module to emulate classic Amiga software without proprietary Kickstarter and Workbench files” in AROS is a complete port of AROS to the m68k Amigas. It’s far enough along that the Natami folks will be able to ship with AROS m68k or a distribution thereof, assuming they ship sometime before the heat death of the universe.
Will we ever see or have a real complete review of the elusive AmigaONE X1000 ??
I know it exist, but it seems to be vaporware at the same time…
Heres an interesting blog from an AmigaOne X1000 owner:
