Speaking of Apple:
Apple today released OS X Yosemite 10.10.4, an under-the-hood update that introduces several bug fixes and performance improvements. Most notably, 10.10.4 includes the removal of the problematic Discoveryd process, which has caused multiple networking issues for some users in OS X Yosemite.
I’m curious to see if this will solve the reconnect-on-wake issues my retina MacBook Pro has. In addition, Apple also released iOS 8.4, which includes a radio station, in case you’re sick of listening to the music you want without some random dude blabbering through your songs.
Actually, I think I am sick of it. I don’t fire up my favorite streaming service to hear music, after all, and that’s why I just love our local radio stations. In fact, they should take it further and not even play the music I want to hear. Yeah, that’s perfect. If they do that, then maybe I’ll call it a real radio station. Charge me for it and I’ll feel like a member of the privileged elite.
Just wait until the evangelists come out with stupid reasons like “Apple did radio right” and “I like that the DJ talks a lot because it makes me feel like part of the show”.
Well, they’ve got one part traditionally right… they sensor their radio stations. Give me a f**king break. After iTunes Match replacing my songs with sensored versions, now this? They can f**k off, the b**ches. Anyone unclear on what I’m saying? Didn’t think so, and I even sensored myself.
Hahaha, great comment!
I wish we had US style talk radio in my country, but we only have one radio channel without music, and they only talk about boring books, arts, fashion, sports, and is so leftist that the hosts border on totalitarian communists.
I would love a talk radio show in US style that talks about current events, politics. I mean i can of course listen to US channels, but then i would not get the local flavour, and thusly the news would be less relevant.
Doesn’t sound like you listen to much US talk radio. If you think it’s not as full of propaganda as anywhere else, you might want to give your bullshit detector a firmware upgrade. You have two angles in US talk radio: theocratic right and left wing totalitarian control freaks. Oddly enough, the best talk radio I’ve encountered was actually from the CBC in Canada. They’re not exactly neutral, but they come closer than anything we’ve got in the states.
Out of curiosity, which country is yours? Just curious where they have worse talk radio than we do.
Sweden, and we only have 4 radio channels with full coverage of the country. (Sweden is very small, the entire country is only about the size of Californa+West virgina and with a much smaller population)
P1=Boring radio talking about operas, art, fashion and such.
P2=Classical music such as Choupin, Tjakovsky, Motzart, Bethoven, Hendel, Vivaldi and so on.
P3=Boring loops of the same pop songs of the month and extremely shitty content in general.
P4=Local radio channels with music from the 70’s and 80’s and some news and entire evenings of sports.
There is three commercial radio stations as well with near 80% coverage combined (RIX, MegaPol and NRJ), but those are mostly the same 10 songs in a loop mixed with commercials.
At this point i would even consider listening to a Swedish equivalent to Rush Limbaugh for the lols far above anything that our radio broadcasts.

That is desperation, indeed. I know Sweden’s rather small, but aren’t there any local radio stations per city or something that might offer more? Is your radio situation really that barebones? A lot more stations than that come up in apps like TuneIn for some of your cities, though I can’t get a lot of them to actually play the stream. We don’t have a huge amount of nation-spanning networks here, but a lot of big shows get syndicated across local channels. We have a lot more nation-spanning TV networks than we do radio, though the majority of our big city stations are owned by a few giant conglomerates.
As for your description of your music stations, that sounds a lot like our situation as well, with one major difference. You have a few stations playing the same ten songs over and over, we have thousands. Neither situation would encourage me to listen, though I have listened to P1 on occasion not so much for the content but so as to practice my Swedish comprehension skills just to keep my brain going. Figure I don’t much care for our radio, so I might as well get some value out of listening to someone else’s radio while I do boring work.
As a paying member (“gold subscriber status” only), you’ll also be able to receive emergency broadcasts, public warnings, and information during a catastrophe. This can safe your life and will place you above all the poor people who can’t afford it. You’ll receive assistance and continuous updates. That is, of course, if your batteries are well, you’re connected to the servers, and the premium radio provider is still operational and able to receive your monthly payments. And permenant online GSM LTE fiber high-speed broadband Internet. But hey, who doesn’t have Internet these days?!
Remember when MTV used to play music videos?
Unfortunately, yes. However, I always preferred Beavis and Butthead’s commentary on said videos. A lot of intelligence hidden beneath the seeming stupidity, especially in those segments.
Have issues where I can’t wake my MacBook Pro from sleep if I’ve been using the other machine, and some investigation showed it’s been happening to people since Mavericks. Every release seems to have it’s own tedious bug to deal with.
I’ve upgraded and my MacBook Pro is still dropping the wifi connection after a very short time — around ten minutes. There’s no noticeable difference from the old version.
The computer doesn’t rename itself every 5 minutes though. mDNSResponder can only work so many miracles. It’s not going to replace their wifi card drivers.
