PalmSource today introduced Palm OS Cobalt 6.1, an enhanced version of Palm OS Cobalt. Designed to accelerate the development of next-generation Palm smartphones and wireless devices, Palm OS Cobalt 6.1 builds on the foundation of Palm OS Cobalt and provides integrated telephony features, support for WiFi and Bluetooth and enhancements to the user interface.
I can not wait until PalmOne starts shipping devices loaded with this. I just maybe tempted to get one.
To bad the multitasking implementation in os6 doesnt let me run any old palmos app along side any other app
Can you download this and install it on a Tungsten T3, or does it require a new device?
Thanks.
New devices.
Anyone have any pictures of the updated OS 6.1? Any pictures of Garnet in action?
You can see some screenshots at http://www.palminfocenter.com/view_story.asp?ID=7166
I am holding off on the Treo until the next model comes out but I would only buy it if it were based on Cobalt.
(I really don’t understand the rationale for simultaneously maintaining and promoting both v5 and v6 of the PalmOS)
Will GCC support cross-compilation?
Well I think that v5 is a Classic PalmOS
And v6 is more like a BeOS influenced one.
Is there BeOS left in Palm ?
I think there is some “BeOS goodness” in the multimedia dept.
